Weight issues are not about food

This week I am starting a new series of articles examining the issue of weight and body image. I have a personal interest in this subject as it has been one of my life long issues too. I recognise that I am not the first to notice that weight is an emotional issue and so what I am planning to do is share my perspective with the intention of helping others and stimulating discussion.

My issue has been about being overweight however many of the ideas I plan to share will also have some relevance for people who have underweight issues too although the outcome is different the underlying causes are often the same. In fact while we are on this subject let me make the obvious statement, this is about self-esteem and for some people challenges around weight are how we have handled our baggage. Other people have the same issues they have just developed a different design in baggage e.g. relationship troubles, addictions, work compulsions etc.

So get ready because next week it all starts happening, right here!
